About
Elvira's House of Horrors is one of the more substantial modern horror machines, and one of the best examples of Stern leaning into a theme rather than simply putting a licence on the backglass. Designed by Dennis Nordman, the game turns Elvira's fictional haunted house into a collection of rooms, monsters and increasingly dangerous objectives.
The layout is packed with things to shoot, but the real game is about progressing through the house and building towards the larger modes. The upper playfield and interactive features give it plenty of physical character without overwhelming the main game.
It is not the easiest Stern to find in the UK, which makes a location game particularly valuable. Explore the house properly. The obvious shots aren't always the ones worth the most.
