The rules of the place. Short, because it's a free community site run by one person and you should be able to finish reading it.

A free, UK-focused pinball stats site. It gathers public competitive data from IFPA, Match Play Events, Pinball Map and OPDB, and adds a separate casual layer where you can log your own scores, run leagues and track the machines you've played.
Using the site means accepting what's on this page and in the privacy policy.
Rankings, ratings, results, venues and machine listings belong to their sources. We ingest them on a schedule and present a copy; we never edit them, and nobody can pay us to change them.
That also means we can't fix them. If your ranking or a tournament result is wrong, the correction has to happen at IFPA or Match Play, and it reaches us at the next ingest. We do our best to mirror those sources faithfully, but we can't guarantee they are accurate, complete or current.
Anything you log; scores, ratings, leagues, machines played; is self-reported and unverified. It lives in a completely separate namespace from the official record, with no path between the two, and it is labelled as casual everywhere it appears.
A score you type in will never affect a WPPR, a rating or a world ranking. That separation is deliberate and permanent.
- Log honestly. Made-up scores mostly spoil your own progress graph, but they also sit on shared leaderboards.
- Only add other people with good reason. If you run a league and put someone's name in it, make sure they'd be happy to be there, and remove them if they ask.
- Only claim a venue you're actually authorised to speak for.
- Don't use the site to harass anyone, and don't put abusive, offensive or unlawful content in a name, league or score note.
- Don't scrape or hammer the site. Ordinary use is welcome; automated bulk extraction isn't.
A league belongs to whoever created it. The owner can rename it, change its format, remove members, close a season, hand ownership to someone else, or delete it outright.
Deleting your account deletes every league you own, and the scores other members logged in them. If a league should survive you leaving, transfer it to another member before you delete.
We can remove content, leagues, venue claims or accounts that break the rules above, and there's a report link on public leagues if you spot something. This is a small site, so moderation is a person reading reports rather than an appeals process; we'll be reasonable, and you can email us if you think we got it wrong.
Silverball is free and provided as-is. It runs on free hosting tiers, so it can be slow, briefly unavailable, or temporarily missing data when an upstream source changes. We don't promise uptime, accuracy or that any particular feature will still exist next month.
Keep your own record of anything you'd be upset to lose, the account page exports everything you have logged as JSON, at any time.
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for losses arising from using the site. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited.
These terms will change as the site does. The date at the top says when they last did. If something material changes; particularly anything about what is free; we'll say so publicly rather than editing this page quietly.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
