Gladiators takes the British television phenomenon and turns it into a competitive pinball contest. Gottlieb’s machine uses the show’s events and characters as the basis for a series of physical challenges.
The game captures the spirit of the programme by making progression feel like a series of contests. Different targets and shots represent the various events, giving the player a clear sense of taking on the Gladiators.
It is a very different experience from modern rule-heavy machines, with the theme doing much of the work. Treat every shot like an event, complete the challenge and move on to the next one.

Hit the lower left standup "Light MB" target to light it until "Light MB" is lit. Hit it again and the next mode will be a multiball mode.

The lower right saucer starts modes. All modes are timed (and can be timed out) except for Calm Before the Storm which is a Multiball.

In Calm Before the Storm, trap a ball on lower left flipper. Use upper right flipper to repeat the "L" shot. It will safely bounce right.

Spell MULTI to light lock on the "I" shot. In MB, shoot the left ramp for jackpot. Lock both balls in the left ramp to light superjackpot.

After playing all six modes, the lower saucer is lit for Beast Challenge. Hit the Mystery Saucer, Abyss and Catapult to kill the beast.
