Meteor
Stern Electronics · 1979 · at 1 UK venue.
Meteor is an early Stern Electronics classic built around a science-fiction battle against a field of incoming space rocks. The game is one of the early examples of Stern using speech, sound and increasingly frantic action to give a relatively simple ruleset a strong sense of urgency.
The objective is straightforward: destroy the meteors and build your way towards the game’s larger scoring opportunities. The playfield is open and direct, putting considerable emphasis on shot accuracy and ball control.
It is a reminder of how much personality early solid-state pinball could create with relatively little technology. Watch the targets, control the ball and destroy the meteors before they overwhelm you.
