About
Spider-Man is one of Stern's strongest licensed games from the 2000s and was designed by George Gomez with a ruleset by Lyman Sheats. It combines three major villains, Sandman, Doctor Octopus and Venom, into a game that is surprisingly focused despite the amount of comic-book material involved.
The three villains provide the central objectives, and each requires a different approach. Sandman's giant figure dominates the centre of the playfield, while the various ramps and targets give the game a satisfying sense of progression.
It remains a popular machine in UK collections because it is recognisable, fast and relatively easy to understand. Don't ignore the villains just because the ramps are easier; the villains are where the game is.
