About

Tales from the Crypt brings the horror anthology series to Data East pinball, with the Crypt Keeper acting as your wonderfully unpleasant guide through a collection of macabre challenges. The machine draws on the show’s dark humour, monsters and gruesome stories to create a game that is as much about atmosphere as it is about shooting.

The playfield is built around a series of horror-themed objectives, with the Crypt Keeper providing commentary as you progress. It has the unmistakable character of early-1990s Data East, combining straightforward rules with plenty of physical and visual personality.

The trick is to embrace the chaos without losing sight of the current objective. Listen to the Crypt Keeper, work through the stories and try not to become part of one.

Guides here are compiled against the machine’s published rules, credited to what they were built from, and dated. That makes them slow: the machines standing on the most UK floors get one first — but anyone who plays this machine can write their own.
