Taxi is a deceptively simple Williams machine built around picking up passengers. Steve Mikes designed the game around four characters, Marilyn, Dracula, Santa and the gorilla, each represented by a different shot.
The objective sounds basic, but the layout makes collecting passengers increasingly difficult as the game progresses. Multiball and jackpot opportunities give the machine plenty of depth without drowning the player in rules.
It is one of those classic machines that can teach a new player a lot about shot accuracy. Pick up passengers, but don't forget where the ball is going when you make the shot.

After multiball ends, pick up a passenger to relight the right saucer for a lock. Continue always being in multiball.

Light CAB 3 times on one ball and light extra ball at Drack shot.

Jackpot shot (Gorbie gate -> saucer) is also possible in reverse order during multiball. Shoot Santa then Gorbie gate.

Carry Passenger target lights after Marilyn or Pinbot targets completed. Hit target before time expires to carry passengers to next ball.

Pickup all 5 passengers to light JACKPOT. Collect JACKPOT.

Right saucer always locks the ball. Be warned when playing with someone else; they might steal your multiball!

Skill shot multiplier increases with each ball (normal setting), so a 100K skill shot is worth 300K on ball 3

Right saucer to lock ball, left ramp to release. Always be in multiball.

During multi ball hit right and left ramp and once and get 250,000 crossover bonus! Not easy but very rewarding.
