About

The Who’s Tommy Pinball Wizard turns the rock opera into a full musical pinball experience. Data East uses the story, songs and characters from Tommy as the framework for the game, with the music driving much of the atmosphere.

The machine combines traditional pinball objectives with features representing Tommy’s journey, including the iconic pinball-playing theme at the heart of the story.

The music makes the table immediately recognisable, but the deeper game comes from learning how the various shots and modes work together. Listen to Tommy, learn the shots and play the game like a pinball wizard.

Guides here are compiled against the machine’s published rules, credited to what they were built from, and dated. That makes them slow: the machines standing on the most UK floors get one first — but anyone who plays this machine can write their own.
