About

Medieval Madness takes the idea of a medieval adventure and turns it into one of pinball’s clearest and most entertaining rule sets. Brian Eddy’s objective is wonderfully simple: destroy castles, defeat trolls, rescue damsels and become king.

The two castles are the centre of the game, but attacking them opens up a chain of other objectives involving trolls, damsels and multiball. The result is a game that can be understood within minutes but takes considerably longer to master.

Its greatest strength is that almost every shot feels meaningful. You are rarely wondering what the game wants you to do; the challenge is making it happen. Start damaging the castles early. The sooner you make progress, the more options you create for the rest of the game.

The saucer that starts the multiball is the shot to avoid

Multiball Madness can only be played once per cycle, and both its ball count and its jackpots are priced on how many Madness lights you are holding when you start it. Starting it the moment it lights is the most common way to waste a good game.
